2006 Summer Research Program Overview
5 June - 3 August 2006

The nine week 2006 WV-INBRE Summer Research Program began June 5th with twenty student interns and one faculty fellow participating at Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University and ten student interns participating at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University. Interns and the fellow will conduct biomedical research projects under the mentorships of faculty at WVU and Marshall. Participants will attend seminars to enrich their experience with presentations ranging from "Applying to Graduate School in the Biomedical Sciences - How and Why" to " Biomedical Research Career Opportunities in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Government and Academics".

The program will conclude with the Summer Research Symposium which will be held on August 3rd at WVU. Participants will present their summer research in oral and poster formats. The keynote speaker for the symposium is Dr. Ted Torphy, Vice President for Research at Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceuticals.
