Dr. Mangiarua received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She served as Postdoctoral Fellow in Pharmacology at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and at McMaster University School of Medicine in Hamilton, Ontario from 1984 till 1986. She joined the Marshall University School of Medicine in 1987. Dr. Mangiarua's research interests are in the area of cardiovascular physiology and include the vascular changes associated with the development of hypertension and obesity. Dr. Mangiarua is a member of several professional societies including the Inter-American Society of Hypertension and the American Physiological Society. She has served as an invited reviewer for the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the American Heart Association. She serves as a reviewer for the journals Atherosclerosis and Annals of Clinical and Laboratory Science. Dr. Mangiarua's academic responsibilities include teaching human physiology, cell physiology and biochemistry to medical and graduate students.
