Michael J. McCarthy received his B.A. (1991) and M.A. (1992) degrees in American History from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where he was a member of the Ashland Class of the Society of Yeager Scholars as an undergraduate. At this time he is pursuing an Ed.D. degree in Technology Education from West Virginia University. He currently serves as Assistant Dean for Information Technology and Medical Informatics at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, where his responsibilities include the creation of medical informatics curricula and the development and implementation of information technology systems and policies for health science research, education and delivery. His research interests include educational technology and the use of information systems by health care providers.
