WV-INBRE Summer Research program for High School Science Educators

A 2014 Summer Research Internship program for high school science educators is available through the WV-INBRE program at website http://www.wv-inbre.net. Participants will have the opportunity to work on a biomedical research project for up to 9 weeks during the period between May 26 and August 8, 2014.  These starting and ending dates are flexible based on your school's academic calendar.  Participation is open to all high school science educators who teach in the state of West Virginia during the 2013-2014 school year.  Up to 5 positions will be available.  Preference will be given to HSTA teachers and those teachers who work in HSTA-affiliated schools. A salary of $11,048 (minus withholding and fringe benefits) will be provided to each intern for the 9-week period, and funds will be provided to the mentor's laboratory for supplies.  Research opportunities are available in biomedical labs at West Virginia University, Marshall University, and at WV-INBRE-funded laboratories at partner institutions.  Grant awardees at the partner institutions are in the selection process and will be identified by late March.

If you are interested in an internship with a mentor who is at an institution other than WVU or Marshall University, please check back to the website around mid-March to see if the WV-INBRE-Funded Partner Institutions Mentors Directory is available.  It will be available as soon as grant awardees have been selected.

For those teachers interested in pursuing their internship at West Virginia University or Marshall University, please visit the Mentors Directory of West Virginia University & Marshall University participants for a list of abstracts and contact information.
